So far this year, volunteer doctors from Beep Doctors (BASICS Cumbria) have attended 144 life-threatening incidents, giving more than 400 hours of their time voluntarily to provide emergency callouts, training, talks, and community events.

Now, one of those doctors, Dr Chris Moss, is taking on an extraordinary challenge to raise vital funds and highlight the importance of keeping fit, by cycling all the way from Athens, Greece, to Kendal, Cumbria. His journey will span thousands of miles across multiple countries.
The Beep Doctors, established over 30 years ago, are a team of volunteer medics who provide pre-hospital critical emergency care across Cumbria. They respond to life-threatening incidents at the scene of road traffic accidents, in people’s homes, or wherever they are needed, often reaching patients in remote or hard-to-access areas.
Dr Moss hopes his cycling challenge will not only raise much-needed funds to support this vital work but also encourage people to look after their own health and fitness.
Speaking about the challenge, Dr Moss said: “Beep Doctors is an essential organisation for people across Cumbria, and I wanted to do something that would not only test me but also raise much-needed funds to keep this vital service running. Every mile I pedal is for our patients and our community, and I also hope to inspire others to see how important it is to stay active and fit.”
The money raised will go directly towards keeping Beep Doctors operational, funding essential equipment, and ensuring that doctors can continue to be there when they are most needed.
Beep Doctors is urging the public to support Dr Moss by donating to his fundraising campaign.
