BEEP Doctors (BASICs) Cumbria is run by volunteers, as well as our unpaid team of Doctors, but it costs £100,000 a year to keep our charity going; including equipment, training and travel.
With the support and generosity of the people of Cumbria, we have managed to continue this vital lifesaving work for the last 25 years. Thank you. We still need your support to raise money for our charity in Cumbria.
See below for ways that you can help BEEP Doctors (BASICs) Cumbria and our vital work in saving lives throughout Cumbria. We are always looking at new ways to raise funds to ensure the future sustainability of the charity.
The easiest way is to make a donation via text. You can do this by texting BEEP to 70085 to donate £2.00 or BEEP to 70450 to donate £10
Our doctors are equipped with all the necessary kit to provide advanced clinical support and interventions at any type of emergency, whether it is a case of major trauma or a medical emergency, whether it is an adult or a child, and whether the incident involves single or multiple casualties.
Our doctors are routinely called upon to respond to incidents at the roadside, in people’s homes, at the workplace, and even in remote and inaccessible locations in the fells. Equipping individual doctors’ private vehicles ensures that we achieve maximum coverage for the whole county and helps to minimise response times no matter where the incident occurs, or what type of incident it might be.
Providing this type of emergency service requires highly specialised equipment. As well as running a dedicated emergency response vehicle which is fitted with high visibility reflective markings, blue lights and siren and a full complement of medical equipment, each doctor has their own vehicle fitted with blue lights and carries the same equipment as the dedicated emergency response vehicle.
All our doctors typically carry:
…and more.
The cost of equipping a single doctor to this level is approximately £20,000-£30,000 and is likely to increase steadily. Grants for emergency response vehicles help, but we still need help raising money to fully fund the service.
We still very much value your support and local community fundraising activities. Every penny raised goes into running this vehicle, paying for its equipment and covering the costs of training the doctors doing this work. By supporting us, through direct debit donations or local fundraising events near you, you are helping to save lives in our local community.
BEEP Doctors (BASICs) Cumbria is run by volunteers, as well as our unpaid team of BEEP Doctors. All our doctors give their time on a voluntary basis attending incidents across Cumbria, as well as working in GP surgeries, in hospitals and in the community.
BEEP Doctors is not funded by the NHS, but it costs over £100,000 a year to keep our charity going, including equipment and travel. This means we rely on donations from the public and with the support and generosity of the people of Cumbria, we have managed to continue this vital lifesaving work for the last 25 years. Thank you.
However, we still need your support. The easiest way you can donate to BEEP Doctors is to donate online via Just Giving. Please click here to donate today. Every penny you donate goes directly to helping support and train our doctors to save more lives.
BEEP Doctors (BASICs) Cumbria has touched the lives of many people right across Cumbria. Over the last 25 years we have been at the scene of many major incidents and accidents and have saved the lives of many patients who without our intervention may not have made it.
By making a regular donation to BEEP Doctors ensures that the work of our volunteer doctors continues, and we can provide enhanced pre-hospital care to patients in emergencies.
Could you become one of our regular givers? The easiest way to do this is to set up a standing order via Just Giving. We appreciate every penny you can spare, but every penny really does make a huge difference to our charity.

One of the best ways you can leave a legacy is to leave a donation to charity. In the past we have often received lump sums in people’s wills. This may have been people whose life we have saved, or impacted upon, or those who champion the good work that we do.
The act of giving through your will has a huge impact on our charity and it is one off donations like this that enable us to buy essential pieces of equipment and train more doctors.
To know more about legacy donation, download our guide, contact us for more information or speak to your solicitor.
A truly special way to remember a loved one is to make a donation in their memory.
You can make a one off donation, or set up regular giving on a special date. This wonderful tribute to them means that their legacy lives on through our lifesaving work.
If you are considering making a donation in memory of a loved one, please visit our Just Giving page or contact us for more information.
We often celebrate big milestones in life, whether that is a wedding, anniversary or you’ve reached the “Big 50”. However, sometimes receiving gifts doesn’t always feel right, but a donation to charity may well be. Asking guests to make a donation to charity, or making a donation as part of an event or milestone may feel more appropriate for you.
A monthly, annual or one off donation is a great way to celebrate a special occasion and no matter how much you raise every penny will have a huge impact on the Beep Doctors charity.
Kids love a project don’t they! So, why not get your school involved in some charity fundraising for BEEP Doctors. Whether that’s a non-uniform day, litter picking or a bake off there are some fantastic ideas to inspire young minds and get them thinking about how they can help charitable causes.
Fundraising for BEEP Doctors could be through a local charity fundraising event you run or adopting us as your charity sponsorship of the year. We can arrange visits from the BEEP Doctors for your school and talk to the pupils about the lifesaving work of the BEEP Doctors.
